Solution

Employ ASME Section VIII, Division 2 methodologies to qualify the design.  API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 (API 579) technology may also be used to supplement ASME VIII-2.

  • Leverage the reduced required safety factor per ASME VIII-2 (compared to ASME VIII-1) and thus save on material and fabrication cost.
  • Optimize design features to maximize equipment life including applications involving thermal-mechanical cyclic loading and/or high temperature applications susceptible to creep.
