Turnaround & Shutdown Support

Are you prepared?

Planning and preparedness are essential to an effective turnaround.  Identifying and implementing process improvements based on the lessons learned from a turnaround is also critical to ensure future outages are on time and on budget.  Canatus Engineering Group offers support at all phases of the turnaround cycle, including:

  • Pre-Turnaround / Shutdown:  Review or develop inspection scopes focused on the highest risk equipment and specific locations of greatest concern; Tabulate go/no-go criterion for damage tolerance limits to expedite decision-making during the outage; Engineer planned or anticipated repairs including post weld heat treatment (PWHT) plans to minimize the risk for distortion or excessive residual stress; Optimize equipment startup and shutdown limits.
  • During Turnaround / Shutdown:  Provide onsite or remote support for all mechanical related activities including inspection guidance, Fitness-For-Service assessments, and repair scopes.
  • Post-Turnaround / Shutdown:  Facilitate debriefing and lessons learned sessions to identify opportunities for process improvements and establish action items and recommendations to enhance future shutdown success, improve equipment reliability, and reduce operational risk.
